Peugeot 207 range receives mid-year upgrade

More car for less coin: spec savvy 207 scores stability control and six airbags across the range

Peugeot's 207 has received a minor mid-year upgrade, the model range now leaner, greener and more safe than ever before. All variants within the 207 range, including hatch, touring and coupe-convertible, receive a host of spec upgrades and styling enhancements, while also scoring more competitive pricing, certain to cement the model's segment-dominating position.

Kicking off the 207 range, the five-door hatch, available in XR and XT trim level, is still offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. In XR guise, the 207 hatch features a choice of 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol units developing 65kW/133Nm and 88kW/160Nm respectively. The smaller engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox while the larger engine is offered exclusively with a four-speed automatic. Both engines meet the strict Euro V emissions standard.

Further up the 207 hatch range, the XT model is again offered with the 1.6-litre petrol engine, this time offered with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. The same powerplant also features in the 207 Touring (wagon) and 207CC (coupe-convertible).

Optionally, XT hatch and Touring models are also offered with a frugal and innovative 1.6-litre HDi turbodiesel engine developing an impressive output of 80kW/240Nm. This figure can be temporarily boosted to 260Nm thanks to Peugeot's overboost function. Notably, the HDi engine uses up to 20 per cent less fuel than a conventional pre-chamber diesel engine returning a combined cycle figure of just 4.7L/100km. CO2 emissions are a low 120g/km.

Further improving 207's already generous feature list, a panoramic glass sunroof with retractable blind is now standard on XT hatch, which also gains dual-zone climate control, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror and privacy glass. Touring models also receive privacy glass and standard "Outdoor" pack, which includes a raised ride height, wheel arch extensions, sill extensions, alloy wheels and partial leather trim.

Additionally, cruise control is now included as standard on all 1.6-litre petrol and diesel models, while on the safety front, every model across the entire 207 range is now fitted as standard with six airbags and stability control.

"These new price changes make every 207 model an even better value-for-money story than before," explained Ken Thomas, General Manager and Director of Peugeot Automobiles Australia.

"And when you factor in the equipment upgrades made recently -- including standard ESP across the range , and the introduction of cleaner, greener Euro V compliant engines -- you have an unbeatable proposition for those seeking a premium European motoring experience without the premium price."
