Nissan Australia MD Bill Peffer has informed motoring.com.au this morning that the Juke crossover will be launched in Australia next year, from July/August production.
"We've announced to our dealers confirmation Juke will be coming to Australia, start of production, July or August of next year," he said. "We've been asking for it for a while."
"We think it's a good segue into the SUV line-up that we have; it is also a brand product that will help bring a new buyer to the Nissan brand..."
Asked what type of buyers would be attracted to the Juke, Mr Peffer suggested the radically styled car might draw in "younger buyers", who are "keen to try something different" – the same sort of customers buying cars like Hyundai's Veloster or MINI, but on a practical level, he indicated the Juke will also fill a role for "growing families" as "primary/secondary vehicles".
According to Mr Peffer, Nissan will "widen [its] audience" with the Juke sold in different drivetrain variants, including front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, naturally-aspirated, turbocharged, CVT and six-speed manual – all of which will come to Australia.
