Toyota has debuted an even hotter version of its GR Yaris performance hero at the Tokyo Auto Salon, specifically the 2026 Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR. Developed as the ultimate expression of GR Yaris track capability, the Morizo RR was honed at the Nürburgring with input from Akio ‘Morizo’ Toyoda himself and focuses on dynamic prowess rather than brute force.

The GR Yaris Morizo RR is the result of Toyoda’s participation in the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, during which he reeled off 15 laps (as part of a team).
It’s probably not surprising that the suspension has been retuned in tandem with the aggressive racer-inspired aerodynamics package and a new electronic power steering calibration.
A new Morizo all-wheel drive (AWD) setting replaces the standard car’s Gravel mode and splits the torque distribution 50:50 between the front and rear axles – Normal (60:40) and Track (variable) have been left untouched.

Other upgrades include an exclusive body kit, carbon body panels, yellow brake calipers, bronze wheels, yellow stitching, motorsport-inspired steering wheel (smaller, new layout) and an exclusive serial numberplate with a ‘MORIZO RR’ logo.
The whole package is finished in a unique ‘Gravel Khaki’ paint finish and wears a Morizo autograph on the windscreen.
No changes to the powertrain have been announced at the time of writing, meaning it likely outputs the same 221kW/400Nm as the standard GR Yaris.
However, we do know the eight-speed automatic is the only transmission being offered, as per Toyoda’s competition car.

Just 200 examples of the GR Yaris Morizo RR are being built, the first 100 of which will be reserved for Japan and sold via a lottery, entries for which can only be purchased through the GR app.
The other 100 units will be available “in certain European markets” – nothing for Australia.
