The build-up to the unveiling of the Aston Martin DBX has continued with a new video that provides our first real look at the sporty SUV's snout.
The highly stylised short film, which looks like the beginning of a Bond movie, was released yesterday and also previews the DBX's rakish coupe-like side profile.Designed, developed and engineered to battle other sporty luxurious SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin's first high-riding crossover will go on sale globally in 2020.
Built at a new plant in St Athan, Wales, the British car-maker says the DBX will come powered by the same Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 that's available under the bonnet of both the current Vantage and DB11.
A more efficient petrol-electric hybrid version will also be available as the brand moves to electrify every model it makes by 2025.
In a recent interview with carsales, Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said he would deliberately restrict annual volumes of the DBX to just 5000 cars a year, whatever the demand.
Palmer also admitted he expected many early DBXs to end up in the hands of existing Aston owners following research that 72 per cent of its current customers already own at least one SUV.
Claimed to have been developed by more than 350 engineers and designers over the past four years at the cost of more than $1 billion, the DBX will be the most important Aston Martin ever unveiled when the drapes are finally pulled off later this year.
