Aston Martin has previewed its next-gen DBS coupe at the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance at Lake Como via a stunning concept dubbed the Project AM 310 that embodies a fresh interpretation of the brand's familiar design language.
The showroom-ready version will debut later this year (possibly at August's Pebble Beach Concours in California), with deliveries expected to commence in early 2013.
The new model will arrive just under six years after the launch of the existing DBS, which is now in send-off mode via the Aston Martin Ultimate special edition.
Tech details are sketchy at best, but reports suggest the DBS replacement uses a lighter and improved version of Aston Martin's trademark VH (Vertical-Horizontal) architecture, while the existing 6.0-litre V12 powerplant has reportedly been tweaked to yield in excess of 410kW.
The new car is also said to make extensive use of carbonfibre in its bodywork and chassis, following the example of the megabuck One-77 that has served as both a halo car and engineering testbed for the brand.
As evident from the accompanying images, the new-age DBS doesn't deviate dramatically from the current model's styling, but there are a couple of notable styling elements, including sharper and more pronounced front and rear fenders (perhaps following the example of the latest generation Bentley Continental GT).
The face has an angrier look about it, with sharply tapered headlights complemented by an egg-crate grille and an elaborately contoured carbon-fibre spoiler.
Meanwhile, the voluptuous derriere is adorned by a slim-line spoiler and U-shaped taillamps that are clearly inspired by the One-77 -- not to mention the Porsche 997 Series 2.
The styling of the new DBS is particularly significant as it's likely to set the template for the replacements for the current Vantage, DB9 and Virage.
And although Aston Martin hasn't yet revealed the interior of the new DBS, it's believed to represent a significant advance on the existing model's dated cabin.
