Australian rally star Molly Taylor is returning to the Australian Rally Championship for the final two rounds of this season, competing in the Production Cup at the helm of her tried-and-tested Subaru WRX STI.
One of Australia’s most successful female motorsport talents, Taylor has spent the past few years racing in various overseas off-road series, including Extreme E, the World Rally Championship, W2RC and RX2e, not to mention the iconic Dakar Rally.
She’ll reunite in the cabin with former co-driver Andy Sarandis and will face off against childhood friend Harry Bates, who’ll be paired with four-time ARC champion co-driver Coral Taylor – Molly’s mum.
“Going up against mum and Harry just puts even more of a fire in my belly,” Taylor said.
“I’m incredibly excited to be rallying back on home soil.
“The ARC holds wonderful memories for me and I’m excited and proud to be competing again in the Subaru WRX.”
Subaru Australia managing director Blair Read was equally thrilled to see the Japanese brand’s star local driver making a return to the national circuit in the classic blue and yellow colours.
“It will be great to see Molly back in the blue and yellow colours on the rally stages in Adelaide and Canberra,” he said.
“This is a really exciting and fitting way to help celebrate 50 years of Subaru in Australia given our proud motorsport heritage.”
Taylor’s CV both locally and abroad is an impressive one, with the big wins starting with back-to-back F16 Australian Rally Championships in 2007 and 2008, before she won the full-fat title in 2016.
Taylor also won the 2021 Extreme E championship, along with myriad podiums in Europe throughout the years, on top of competing in the series/events mentioned above.
The final two ARC rounds will take place on October 13-15 and November 18-19 in Adelaide and Canberra respectively.
