INEOS Automotive has declared it still has solid supply of the Grenadier off-road wagon and its Quartermaster dual-cab sibling despite the ongoing production shutdown.
The manufacturing halt has been in place since September and is thought to have been caused by seat-producer Recaro’s financial woes.
But while the shutdown is reportedly disrupting plans to launch the Grenadier and Quartermaster in China and Mexico, local INEOS Automotive boss Justin Hocevar has insisted Australia is largely unaffected.
“It doesn’t affect all markets in the same way,” he told carsales.
“We’re not really affected because we had already backed ourselves in for 2024.
“We knew what was happening, we ordered up on our Quartermasters, we ordered up on our wagons and we know we’re good to carry ourselves through.”
Hocevar clarified there were still cars arriving on local soil that were built before the “manufacturing hiatus” began before tipping production to resume in early 2025.
“We’re waiting for that to be resolved,” he said.
“We’re pretty confident it’ll be resolved to get us back going by early in the new year.”
INEOS doesn’t report sales to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries but says it has delivered about 1500 vehicles Down Under in a little over a year.
All those have been Grenadier wagons; however Hocevar has forecasted the Quartermaster dual-cab to become the brand’s top seller, albeit at the expense of some wagon sales.
