BMW Art Cars in Sydney

Fifteen Art Cars -- soon to be sixteen -- tour the world each year, wowing connoisseurs of art and automotive design alike.
The very first BMW to be given a unique look was the 3.0CSL Le Mans entry owned by art auctioneer cum racing driver, Herve Poulain.
A friend of artist Alexander Calder, Poulain asked the American to create a modern, dramatic style for the car. Calder died barely a year later.
What he began has continued to this day with support from BMW. The car builder has commissioned works by pop artists Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, as well as Australia's own Ken Done.
All the cars convey themes important to the respective artists and dovetail with BMW's name for motor sport achievement and engineering prowess.
