Cheaper Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Avantgarde now on sale

A more affordable version of the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class SUV has been added to the family SUV line-up to undercut the entry GLC but you’ll have to get in quick to snap up the sharply priced, limited edition Avantgarde.

Priced at $99,900 drive away, Benz says the new GLC 300 Avantgarde is available in limited numbers and can only be ordered until 31 December 2024.

And there’s plenty of standard equipment on offer, given the thousands of dollars shaved off the regular base model which starts from $103,400 (plus ORCs).

That includes new bi-colour 20-inch multi-twin-spoke alloy wheels, LED headlights with adaptive high beams, gloss chrome exterior trim finishes all round, a panoramic glass sunroof, electric tailgate, and simulated under guards at the front and rear.

The Avantgarde exterior package also adds aluminium roof rails and aluminium-look running boards (side skirts) with black rubber studs.

Benz’s latest MBUX portrait-style infotainment unit comes standard with smartphone mirroring and digital radio, while wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone climate control, and a 360-degree parking camera also feature.

Other safety gear includes the standard fitment of nine airbags, adaptive cruise control, park assist, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and autonomous emergency braking (AEB).

Keyless entry also comes standard, along with heated front seats with memory settings, a head-up display, leather-clad sports steering wheel, velour floor mats, ambient interior lighting and illuminated door sills, and Comfort seats (with four-way lumbar support) in black “Nappa-look” ARTICO leather-appointed seat trim.

No-cost interior colour options include Sienna brown/black and Macchiato beige/black, while the cabin is finished with anthracite lime wood trim and high-gloss black finishes.

Outside, exterior colour options include metallic Verde Silver, Graphite Grey, High-Tech Silver, Obsidian Black and Spectral Blue, or non-metallic Polar White.

Based on the GLC 300, the Avantgarde grade retains the same 190kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a nine-speed auto and Merc’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
