Cheaper Nissan X-TRAIL hybrids priced for Aus

Nissan has announced the pricing of its new front-drive X-TRAIL e-POWER family SUVs, which shave $3090-$3655 off the price of the equivalent ‘e-4ORCE’ all-wheel drives. The result is a $45,990 plus on-road costs entry price into the brand’s electric-drive hybrid mid-size SUV, putting it well and truly on terms with rivals from Hyundai, Toyota and Kia.

The Nissan X-TRAIL hybrid base price is now $45,990 with the arrival of the ST-L 2WD e-POWER SUV. That price climbs to $50,915 and $54,715 when referring to the Ti and Ti-L versions respectively.

Having ditched the rear motor, the 2WD e-POWERs’ single-motor hybrid system outputs 150kW/330Nm, which is obviously down on the AWDs’ combined 157kW/525Nm figures, but the trade-off is noticeably better fuel economy, to the tune of 5.4L/100km on the combined cycle – vs 6.1L/100 for the AWDs.

Everything else about the X-TRAIL 2WD e-POWERs is the same as their e-4FORCE equivalents in terms of standard equipment and technology.

“Hybrid has become the powertrain of choice in the medium SUV segment, and a two-wheel-drive e-POWER X-TRAIL puts us exactly where the strongest demand is,” Nissan Oceania managing director Steve Milette said.

Also being added to the range is the adventure-themed Rock Creek which essentially replaces the pre-update N-Trek in offering a tougher look but no extra capability.

Priced from $48,315, the Rock Creek is only being offered as an AWD seven-seater – based on the mid-range ST-L – and comes with a bunch of unique appointments.

These include a black V-motion grille, roof rails and door mirrors, a unique front bumper, exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, orange accents, a distinctive ‘three-slot’ horizontal grille, nylon upholstery, embroidered ‘ROCK CREEK’ emblems, a 10.8-inch head-up display and a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster.

However, there aren’t any tyre or suspension upgrades from factory.

The addition of the front-drive e-POWERs and Rock Creek swell the local X-TRAIL line-up to 13 variants, with the new players available to order now. However, the first examples won’t be in-country and delivered until September 2026.

As with every X-TRAIL, they’re covered by Nissan’s service-activated 10-year/300,000km factory warranty.
