Citroen city car concept teased ahead of Geneva

French car-maker claims new baby Citroen will help celebrate its 100 anniversary by channeling the 2CV

Citroen has previewed the first of two concepts it will reveal at the VivaTechnology exhibition in Paris this May.

In a video released overnight, chief executive Linda Jackson not only confirmed both of the concepts but announced the first model will introduce Citroen's futuristic take on urban mobility.

Meantime, the other will demonstrate Citroen's vision of 'ultra-comfort'.

Hinting one of the concepts might star at next month's Geneva motor show, the short film previews details of the first car Citroen plans to reveal, including the LED daytime running lights and rear tail lights. There's also a snapshot of what appears to be large wheel arches.

"2019 is a perfect time to announce new mobility solutions,” Jackson said. “VivaTech will be an amazing opportunity to present two new concept cars. The first one will give Citroen’s vision in terms of urban mobility.

“The second one, unveiled at VivaTech, will embody Citroen’s take on ultra-comfort. Proudly designed with French start-ups, Citroen will showcase its latest innovations in digital or onboard customer experience. You’ll see that they are in tune with new customer mobility expectations. "

Both concepts will arrive in time to celebrate Citroen's 100th anniversary -- leading some fans to speculate the famous French car-maker will reinvent its most famous creation, the 2CV.

Not so fast, Jackson told carsales.com.au at last year's Paris motor show.

The new concept will 'channel the spirit of the 2CV' rather than be a retro rip-off.
