DETROIT MOTOR SHOW: Mercedes teases GLA facelift

German car maker gives a glimpse of its updated Audi Q3-rival ahead of reveal

Mercedes-Benz has previewed its forthcoming facelifted version of its GLA SUV ahead of its unveiling at the Detroit motor show that it plans to reveal on January 8.

Releasing a single darkened teasing image of the GLA, it appears the updates to the DUV's exterior will be subtle with a lightly redesigned front bumper, new grille and pair of new LED headlamps.

At the rear of the car expect another pair of new LED lamps and a new reshaped bumper.

The GLA, that first went on sale back in 2014, is also thought to come with revised suspension settings that sees the ride raised for more of an SUV look.

Inside, like the recently updated CLA, the small Mercedes crossover will get an updated 8.0-inch infotainment system that now incorporates Apply CarPlay/Android Auto.

The GLA will also come with a revised emergency autonomous braking system and the car maker's Dynamic Select driving modes system.

Under the bonnet the GLA will get an updated range of petrol and diesels.

When we'll get the updated small SUV will be confirmed at the Detroit show but the cars we get are likely to come with more standard kit making a price rise for GLAs sold in Australia sadly inevitable.
