The 2022 Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae LP780-4 Roadster is officially Australia’s most expensive new car, adorned with a sticker price of $992,653 plus on-road costs.
And if that’s out of your budget, which will need to stretch well beyond $1 million once those on-road costs are factored in, then the coupe version is considerably more affordable at this top end of the market, starting at $904,419 plus ORCs – $88,234 less than the drop-top.
Still to touch down in Australia but now with pricing revealed, the Ultimae twins mark the end of a decade-long production run for the Italian supercar and are the fastest and most powerful cars to wear the Aventador badge.
Lamborghini’s last pure V12 models before electrification takes hold with the Aventador’s successor, the LP780-4 designation signals the 780hp (574kW) that engineers have eked out of the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12.
For reference, 0-100km/h is dispatched in 2.8 seconds in the coupe, and 0-200km/h is completed in just 8.7 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 355km/h.
Just 600 examples of the Ultimae are being produced globally – 350 coupes and 250 roadsters – and if you think the price is astronomical now, there’s every chance that ‘second-hand’ asking prices will be even higher.
Some investment firms have already deemed the swansong V12 an instant classic “owing both to its scarcity and historical significance as the last of the Aventador line”.
The Australian allocation is still to be confirmed, but all cars heading Down Under are likely to have already been spoken for.
Before now, the most expensive new car in Australia was the Ferrari SF90 Spider, set at $957,700 plus ORCs.
