
Volkswagen has announced it will stage the world debut of an unnamed vehicle in a gigantic 8893 square-metre exhibit at next month’s Frankfurt motor show.
Europe’s largest car-maker has already revealed the new Golf R, which can hit 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds and will be unveiled at Frankfurt alongside the e-Golf.
Volkswagen says e-mobility, 4MOTION, WRC and Think Blue will be the key themes of its massive stand at the 65th International Motor Show (IAA) over September 10-22.
It said the architectural centrepiece of its exhibit will be a main stage with a 61-square metre LED wall, marking the entrance to a ‘Think Blue walk’ that takes visitors past its most fuel-efficient models.
The German giant will also host DJ sessions in an exclusively designed lounge area, while Dutch innovation design artist Anouk Wipprecht was also commissioned to create an exclusive fashion tech collection for the show.
VW says 150 tonnes of steel were used to construct its near-9000 square-metre Frankfurt booth, which took 18 designers and architects more than 11 months to plan and 24 days to build.
Less environmentally friendly than many of the 53 vehicles on display will be the stand’s 2300 lamps requiring 90km of cabling.
