Honda has been forced to temporarily suspend production at some of its manufacturing facilities due to a suspected cyber attack.
Believed to affect Honda production globally on Monday, the attack was said to be so bad that some plants had to halt their operations completely over fears their quality control systems had been compromised.
According to the car-maker, the cyber attack consisted of a targeted ransomware virus that had been uploaded to Honda's internal servers.
By Tuesday, most of Honda's 31 plants were back up and running but the car-maker said its main US plant in Ohio and those in Turkey, India and Brazil remain shut down while Honda grapples with the ransomware.
The cyber attack couldn't have come at a worse time for Honda as the car-maker slowly recovers from its enforced factory closures worldwide as a result of COVID-19.
It's not known how many millions of dollars yet another enforced shutdown will have cost the company.
