Honda will pull the drapes off a new EV it has created for global markets at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on January 9.
Releasing a single picture of a wedged-shaped nose reminiscent of something lifted off a 1970s-era Italian supercar, Honda has provided no further details on what it has in store for the Las Vegas-based tech show.
That said, the new global EV is expected to be inspired by the Honda E:N family of EVs that have been previewed as concepts for China since 2021.
Those cars also featured striking sharp lines that were inspired by origami (the art of folding paper).
Previously, Honda was working with General Motors and was planning to underpin its future EVs on the US car giant’s latest Ultium architecture, but the deal was cancelled.
The new concept will be the first car designed since the separation and it’s likely to be based on an all-new platform developed in-house by Honda.
The same architecture will underpin many, if not all, of the 30 EVs that will be launched over the next seven years as Honda aims to sell two million EVs annually by 2030.
By 2040, Honda says it will only make EVs and by 2050 it will be carbon neutral across the entire company.
In Australia, Honda has previously admitted that it has no plans to offer an EV until about 2028.
