The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 6 electric sedan will make its global debut tomorrow and Hyundai has released six increasingly revealing teaser images over the past six days to mark the occasion.
The confirmation was made via the Hyundai IONIQ 6’s dedicated website – the same one the teaser images have been posted to.
“Finally, the full design of the IONIQ 6 will be unveiled tomorrow,” said Hyundai today.
Starting on June 22, the six teaser images previewed the car’s illuminated rear spoiler, its sloping roofline, its aerodynamically optimised bumper, its ‘Parametric Pixel’ rear lighting motif, its digital wing mirrors and, finally, its shark-nose front bumper.
The pointed nose is underlined by a concave fascia that feeds into an integrated splitter adorned with the four-dot IONIQ logo.
Similar to a Porsche 911, the tops of the headlights rise above the bonnet line at the end of raised bodywork turrets that extend back towards the windscreen, A-pillars and streamlined roofline.
The other main takeaway from the teasers is the design of the alloy wheels; those exact units were spotted on a disguised development car snapped by our spy photographers in late April, confirming our hunch at the time the vehicle was close to production.
As previously reported by carsales, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 will be underpinned by the same e-GMP architecture as the existing Hyundai IONIQ 5 fastback SUV, which is also expected to donate its single- and dual-motor powertrain combinations.
A high-performance N flagship will likely emerge in the coming years, but for now IONIQ 6 is anticipated to arrive Down Under either later this year or in early 2023.
