Lamborghini has officially confirmed that its Aventador Superveloce Jota has become the fastest production car ever to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit after it set a timed lap of just six minutes 44:97 seconds.
Racking up a lap some 2.27 seconds faster than the previous record-holder, Porsche's latest 911 GT2, the still-to-be-revealed Aventador SVJ set a time that was 15 seconds quicker than the SV version.
Rumoured to produce just 14kW more than the SV, but still a substantial 566kW from its 6.5-litre V12, the fastest Aventador's lap record is thought to have been attributed to both its lighter kerb weight and its "best aerodynamic efficiency".
In the latest teaser we see a whole lot more of its advanced aero, which includes an enormous front splitter and a complex rear wing that's supported by both a large central mount and two additional curved arms.
Beneath the Aventador SVJ, the Lamborghini is thought to have a completely reworked diffuser that's significantly larger than the SV thanks to the decision taken by engineers to relocate the revised dual-pipe exhaust higher up between the tail-lights.

As well as the fixed wings, the big Lamborghini V12 supercar is also said to feature the car-maker's next-generation active aerodynamics set-up that incorporates aero vectoring to boost downforce while cornering.
The same air-bending tricks were first introduced on the Huracan Performante.
For the record, the Aventador SVJ was driven by factory driver, Marco Mapelli, during a private session.
The timed lap, Lamborghini claims, was monitored by Pirelli technicians and verified by an independent body, Remak, using GPS tracking and on-board VBOX Racelogic instrumentation.
Offering further proof that the Aventador SVJ's time is genuine, Lamborghini has announced that it will release a video of the record lap with Mapelli at the wheel.
Confirmed to be revealed at Monterey Car Week in California at the end of August, the Aventador SVJ is set to be offered as both a coupe and a roadster.
The Jota is likely to be made in extremely small numbers and priced significantly higher than the recently introduced Aventador S that sells Down Under for $789,425 before on-road costs.
