Lamborghini Huracan leaked

New images believed to be of Lamborghini's Gallardo-replacing Huracan have emerged

A handful of images purporting to be the Lamborghini Huracan – Italian supercar maker’s replacement for the decade-old Gallardo -- have been leaked onto the internet by a European website.

Italy’s LaStampa.it news site leaked the images, which are believed to be the real deal, then rapidly removed them. But not quick enough for thousands of webmasters to repost them online.

It's not clear if the images are indeed authentic, but they appear to match the latest spy photos of Lamborghini's new entry-level model.

Lamborghini is due to come clean with all the official details and specifications on its new supercar later today, but the leaked photos show LP610-4 badges. If the images are indeed legit, it would mean the car's engine -- believed to be a reworked 5.2-litre V10 -- would output 610hp or around 448kW.

As is the increasingly the case with high-end sportscars in the modern era, the all-wheel drive Lambo will not be offered with a manual, instead packaged exclusively with a dual-clutch gearbox, likely to have seven forward ratios.

In terms of design, the new images of the aluminium space-framed coupe show a more mature vehicle that appears to borrow a few design cues from the Aventador, particularly at the front-end.

The tail-end of the new car has subtle retro aesthetic that is bookended by a huge black diffuser and a quartet of circular exhaust pipes.

We'll know by the end of the day whether these images are indeed the real deal. Stay tuned.
