Lamborghini set to reveal new 570kW supercar

Limited-run supercar will be built to commemorate 100th birthday of founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini

Lamborghini CEO has announced his car-maker will reveal a new supercar to celebrate what would be the 100th birthday of its founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini.

Set to be revealed at the Geneva motor show, Stephen Winkelmann told Brit mag, Autocar, that Lamborghini “will do something special and show it in Geneva” and that car will be a ““a mix of technology demonstrator and street-legal car, which is important for the people who will buy it.”

Following in the tyre tracks of the Sesto Elemento, Aventador J and the Reventon, the secret super car is expected to come with extreme weight savings and a state-of-the-art aero package.

According to Autocar, the top secret supercar is thought to be based on a stretched version of the Huracan’s platform and come powered by a development of the Aventador’s 6.5-litre V12 that will produce as much as 566kW.

Rumoured to be named the Centenario LP770-4 the all-wheel drive Lambo is expected to consist of a limited-run of just 20 cars and costs around $3 million plus our local taxes.

Winkelmann told Autocar that the new model would “demonstrate what Lamborghini is able to do with technical innovations”, before going to say:

“When you are a two-model company, you show something that is radically new for production every four or five years, that’s it.

“Our designers and engineers still have the lust to show what they can do and we are not able to have four or five production models. [So cars like this] are an opportunity to show that constant innovation is taking place within Lamborghini.”
