Updated diesel ute arrives in October with more power, new tech and sharper styling

The News

The LDV T60 has received a major update for 2027, with a new diesel engine, revised styling and a redesigned cabin. Due in Australian showrooms in October, the dual-cab ute continues to position itself as a budget alternative to popular rivals such as the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.

The Key Details

  • New 2.5-litre turbo-diesel produces 163kW and 520Nm
  • Updated exterior design inspired by the LDV Terron 9
  • New 12.8-inch touchscreen and 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster

The Finer Details

LDV has given the T60 its third engine update and second facelift since the current-generation ute arrived in Australia in 2017.

The biggest change is under the bonnet, where the previous diesel engine has been replaced by a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder shared with the larger LDV Terron 9.

Outputs rise to 163kW and 520Nm, placing it among the more powerful four-cylinder diesel utes on sale in Australia. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and selectable four-wheel drive.

The front end has also been redesigned, adopting LDV's latest styling theme with new sheetmetal, grille and lighting.

Inside, the cabin receives a new dashboard layout centred around a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster. The gear selector has moved from the steering column to the centre console.

The range has been simplified from three variants to two, consisting of the T60 PRO and T60 LUXE.

Standard equipment on the PRO includes LED headlights, alloy wheels, a spray-in tub liner, rear differential lock, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated steering wheel and rear air conditioning vents.

The LUXE adds artificial leather trim, heated front seats, front and rear differential locks, 360-degree camera, multi-link rear suspension, tow bar and 18-inch alloy wheels.

LDV says more than 46,000 examples of the current-generation T60 have been sold in Australia since launch.

One advantage for existing owners and accessory suppliers is that the rear body section carries over from the outgoing model, allowing existing ute tub accessories to fit the updated vehicle.

The Road Ahead

The updated LDV T60 arrives in Australia this October and will continue to be sold alongside the larger Terron 9.

Pricing remains a key selling point. The entry-level T60 PRO is priced at $39,989 drive-away for private buyers, undercutting an equivalent Ford Ranger dual-cab, which starts at about $43,380 before on-road costs, while sitting close to the entry Toyota HiLux dual-cab at around $37,730 plus on-road costs.

How much does the LDV T60 cost?
PRO (ABN holders) – $37,990
PRO (private buyers) – $39,989
LUXE (ABN holders) – $42,990
LUXE (private buyers) – $45,253
*Prices are drive-away
