Entering a high-profile concept car in an equally high-profile motor racing event is what one might call a gutsy move.
Kudos to Lexus for entering the LF-A high-performance sports car in the 36th running of the Nurburgring 24-hour race -- an event in which the pre-production car could DNF for any number of reasons, not least of all mechanical. It's an expensive proposition and might be damaging to the brand.
Lexus is treating the exercise as an opportunity for the development of young engineers and further development of the LF-A. Powered by a 370kW V10 engine, the LF-A will be kitted out with just the safety items necessary to meet scrutineering requirements for the event.
The event runs from May 22 to 25.
