Lexus hatch sneaks out

The latest brochure leak reveals Japanese luxury compact

They teased us with images of the taillights but now the shoe is on the other foot with the complete brochure for the Lexus CT 200h leaking out ahead of next week's Geneva Motor Show. Images and technical details of the hybrid hatch are now all over the internet for the world to see.

Sporting a look that puts it somewhere between the stylised concept from Frankfurt and a regular Toyota Corolla, the CT 200h is very much the new baby of the Lexus range. Measuring 4.3m long, 1.7m wide, 1.4m tall and sitting a 2.6m long wheelbase the CT 200h is designed to tackle the likes of the BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz B-Class.

Under the bonnet a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine coupled to an electric motor powered by nickel-metal hydride battery pack. Luckily for Lexus the company didn't put any power outputs in the brochure so they remain under wraps. Power is transferred to the front-wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The CT rides on MacPherson suspension at the front and double wishbone set-up at the rear, and rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels.

We'll bring you more details of the CT 200h when our Geneva Motor Show coverage begins.
