Lexus LC set to sell out
Order bank is threatening to out-strip supply of the swoopy new coupeLexus Australia may have a sure-fire hit on its hands, based on preliminary orders for the LC Coupe that launches here next month.
motoring.com.au believes the slinky Lexus performance flagship will be priced from $190,000 for the V8-engined LC500. This is significantly less than some early estimates.
The competitive pricing has already won the car a strong order bank. With Australian allocation expected to be pegged at around 100 units the LC 500 is now looking like a sellout.
motoring's enquiries with key dealers indicated much of the allocation was spoken for. One high-profile Melbourne dealer is already holding six orders.
In Victoria the drive-away price is expected to be around $204,000, with the hybrid LC 500h higher still.
Product PR and Events Manager at Lexus Australia, Nick Raman, wouldn't discuss pricing for the LC coupe so near the local launch date, other than to concede the enhancement pack will add $15,000 to the cost of the vehicle.
Likely to be a popular choice, the enhancement pack adds a carbon-fibre roof, active rear spoiler, Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS), Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS), 10-way power-adjustable sports front seats, Alcantara and leather trim, carbon-fibre scuff plates and a torque-sensing limited slip differential. The tricky diff is standard for the LC 500, but part of the enhancement pack option for the hybrid variant. It's a lot of kit for $15,000, however you cut it.
Lexus dealers are anticipating the LC coupe will begin 'wholesaling' from June 9, with retail deliveries to take place shortly after, and the local media launch is timed for the first week of June.
