Lotus confirms Evora GT430 for Oz

And 'fastest ever' GT430 Sport is headed our way too, but only one each allocated for the local market

The local distributor for Lotus sports cars has secured one each of the very rare Evora GT430 and GT430 Sport models – the latter the fastest car to take to the roads in the history of the iconic British marque.

Just 60 units of the Evora GT430 will be built for global markets and the car earmarked for Australia will be built next month for delivery early in 2018. Priced at $259,990, the Aussie-spec GT430 will be finished in 'Gulf Blue Livery'.

Also running down the production line next month, the GT430 Sport for Australia will be priced at $239,990 and will be presented in Fire Red.

Although it's cheaper, and production is not limited to a specific number, the GT430 Sport is faster than the GT430 for three reasons: lower weight, an automatic transmission fitted, rather than a manual, and no rear wing, reducing the downforce by 100kg. Better ratios in the autobox and being able to slip through the air easier make the GT430 Sport faster than the ostensibly track-focused GT430.

Whoever places an order for the GT430 will need to stump up a $25,000 non-refundable deposit, as we reported back in July.
