Mercedes-AMG has ruled out the EQC, B-Class or any commercial vehicle, including the X-Class, from ever getting the AMG treatment.
Speaking to US mag
, AMG boss Tobias Moers said these models would never get AMG powertrains because there's simply not enough demand to justify the investment.Iinstead, he said cars like the Mercedes-Benz B-Class would be treated to AMG Line styling packages, chassis revisions and upgraded steering.
The 300kW battery-powered Mercedes-Benz EQC is also off the menu for AMG upgrades but, according to the US mag, Moers wouldn't be drawn on why the powerful SUV, which can already hit 100km/h in 5.1 seconds, would not get the full AMG treatment.
It's thought that tuning the pure-electric SUV would compromise the EQC's NEDC-verified 471km range, which is something that senior Benz execs would be reluctant to allow.
