The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is back on sale in Australia after local order books were closed due to overwhelming demand in mid-2021.
Having cleared a two-year backlog of orders, Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific says the blinged-up, V8-powered off-road SUV is now available to order, with production slots open for vehicles scheduled to arrive in Australia as early as November this year.
“Though some additional stock has come in to Australia from time to time, including limited-editions, the two-year backlog has been cleared and new orders can now be placed,” said the company in a statement late today.
Customers who order the 430kW/850Nm twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8-equipped G-Class will also receive a slight LCT-related discount from the astronomical $365,900 plus ORCs price tag announced in July 2022, marking a $51,000 price hike and making the G 63 almost $120,000 pricier than its original launch price announced in 2018 ($247,700).
The new G 63 price is still a cool $363,561 plus ORCs (about $385,000 drive-away, depending on your state), but that’s unlikely to slow the G-Class juggernaut that, including the G 400d, has found 120 Aussie homes so far this year, following 427 sales in 2022, 594 in 2021, 270 in 2020, 300 in 2019 and 131 in 2018, for a total of 1842.
