When the $250,000 Mercedes-AMG G63 launched in Australia in late 2018 it was an instant success, selling out fast and creating a wait least until 2020.
Global demand is strong for the go-anywhere V8 weapon and there's clearly a market for something even more powerful than the 'standard' G 63, whose 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 pumps out a measly 430kW and 850Nm.
Enter the Brabus Black Ops 800 and Brabus Shadow 800, a pair of completely insane high-octane off-roaders that up the power ante to 588kW (8000hp) and a stump-pulling 1000Nm.
The regular Mercedes-AMG G63 scorches to 100km/h from rest in 4.5 seconds, which is seriously quick. But the Brabus Black Ops and Shadow can perform the same trick in just 4.1 seconds.
Top speed is 240km/h.
Just 20 versions of the Brabus twins combined will built, and if you have to ask how much, you can't afford them. Okay, so the Black Ops costs €275,000 ($A442,000) and the Shadow is a steal at €327,000 ($A526,000).
Apart from the mega engine tune, which is paired with a Brabus stainless steel sport exhaust system and black chrome tips for a "thrilling exhaust note", the Brabus Black Ops 800 features a wide body kit (+100mm) with chunky wheel arches, updated front and rear bumpers, agro bonnet scoops and roof-mounted LED spot lights.
Chuck in a glossy naked-carbon finish and 23-inch forged alloy wheels and the result is menacing to say the least.
The more expensive Brabus Shadow 800 features a gunmetal grey paint job, gloss black wheel arches, a roof spoiler and the sort of interior that would make Ja Rule excited. We're talking quilted leather seat upholstery, Alcantara galore, carbon-fibre and lots of embossed Brabus logos.
