Full details of the upgraded 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe have been released overseas ahead of its launch later this year.
Arriving three years into its current lifecycle, the revisions to the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door are pretty mild, with the majority of changes limited to the six-cylinder range that includes the GT 53 S 4MATIC we get and the lower-powered GT 43 model offered in Europe.
From the outside, the changes to the MY21 AMG GT 4-Door will leave you guessing considering there's no sheet-metal alterations, but there are new body colours and wheel options.
For the first time, the GT 53 S will also be offered with what AMG has dubbed a V8 Styling Pack that lends the grille and body kit from the flagship GT 63 S 4MATIC.
There's also a new AMG Night Package II that darkens the vertical chrome slats within the grille and adds black badging.
The new pack can be combined with the Carbon Fibre Package that adds sportier carbon styling elements.
Inside, there's new trim, wood and leather options, plus AMG's latest twin-horizontal-spoke steering wheel.
Beneath the skin, the AMG GT 4-Door's powertrains carry over unchanged, but engineers have given the six-cylinder range a comprehensive chassis tune with the primary aim to enhance ride comfort.
There are new dampers and a revised control unit that's claimed to provide for not only a greater ride comfort but also better body control when you're pushing on.
In Europe, the updated AMG GT 4-Door will go on sale from this August. Australian pricing and specs are still to be confirmed.
Similar upgrades will be introduced to the GT 63 S 4MATIC later this year. There's also a GT 73e in the pipeline that will feature the car-maker's advanced 'P3' E-Performance plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Mercedes-AMG has already confirmed that the new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain will produce an incredible 600kW and 1000Nm of torque.
That, says AMG, will help provide the big AMG GT with a sub-3.0sec sprint to 100km/h. Its top speed has not been confirmed but is thought to be in excess of 330km/h.
Launch timing is still to be confirmed, but the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 73e is set to land before the end of the year with pricing likely to match the plug-in Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid at about $420,000.
