Mercedes-Benz previews new AI-powered Virtual Assistant
Next-generation MBUX system set to boast human-like assistant for infotainment systemMercedes-Benz has announced it will reveal its new “game-changing” MBUX Virtual Assistant at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 9.
According to the German car-maker, the powerful new infotainment aid is powered by advanced AI and will take the current ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant into a “whole new visual dimension”.
The result, engineers say, is an intelligent system that can provide natural interactions with the user and can judge whether you’re in a good mood, or not, and reply accordingly.
Developed in-house, the new virtual assistant runs the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) and will be demonstrated on the next-generation CLA sedan.
It’s not known if Benz will update the original Concept CLA Class that was shown earlier this year at September’s Munich motor show.
“Mercedes-Benz is reinventing the digital passenger experience by leveraging AI to offer human-like interaction with the intelligent MBUX Virtual Assistant,” said Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius.
“It includes empathetic characteristics that sync with your driving style and mood.
“Paired with our in-house MB.OS architecture, this approach will define the future of digital luxury.”
As well as the CLA and the AI-driven infotainment system, Mercedes will also offer CES showgoers a closer look at the incoming all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQG, with the German brand set to show off a close-to-production version of the zero-emissions G-Class.
It’s not known when the Mercedes-Benz EQG will be fully unveiled but it’s set to go on sale before the end of 2024.
