Mercedes E-Class Coupe leaked

Brochure leak shows off large coupe days before it’s officially revealed

UPDATED 9:00am 12/12/2016: Mercedes-Benz has now released an official teaser video of the new E-Class Coupe in the lead-up to its official reveal this week (see below).

-----------------------------------------------

Images of the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe have been leaked online ahead of its official reveal at a VIP event in Germany on December 14.

The images, unearthed by Belgian car site AutoTijd, are thought to have come from the car-maker's German dealer brochure.

From the images it's clear the E-Class Coupe will be pillar-less and come with the option of a sporty AMG Line body kit.

Based on the fifth-generation W213 sedan, that was revealed at this year's Detroit motor show in January, the new coupe (codenamed C238) will be longer and wider than its predecessor but considerably lighter.

Like the new E-Class sedan and wagon, the coupe will boast state-of-the-art technology that includes a semi-autonomous cruise control that steers, brakes and accelerates for you at speeds of up to 210km/h on the highway -- if you keep your hands on the wheel.

The Coupe will also come with the option of a clever self-parking feature that can be controlled via a smartphone app to help you squeeze the two-door E-Class into a garage or tight space.

Inside, the E-Class Coupe comes with the option of a twin-screen dash that uses 12.3-inch display controlled by touch-scrollers on the steering wheel.

Far more fuel efficient and less polluting than the car it replaces, the new coupe is expected to come with best-in-class aerodynamics.

Initially, the E-Class Coupe will be offered with 134kW 2.0-litre petrol (E 200) and 143kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel (E 220d) engines.

Spearheading the line-up will be the all-wheel drive 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol (E 400 4MATIC) model that claimed to hit 100km/h from standstill in just 5.3 seconds.

There's no word yet if the classy Coupe will get the full AMG treatment.

More will be revealed following the E-Class Coupe's unveiling on December 14.
