Morgan prices fall

Depressed pound cheers up Aussie buyers, but distributor warns against delaying purchase

Prices of Morgan cars in Australia have dropped significantly as the value of the pound has tumbled, due to uncertainty about the UK remaining a member of the European Union.

If the UK decides to stay in the EU, it will inevitably result in a stronger pound, measured against the Aussie dollar. That in turn will make Morgans more expensive once again.

For the moment at least, the local distributor says, it's a good time to be buying one of Britain's fossilised sports cars.

In other news, the 4/4 model's 80th Anniversary edition will not be coming to Australia. Just 80 units will be built for global consumption, and the cost of homologation to comply just two examples for the Australian market would be prohibitive, the distributor advises. The question is academic anyway, since the Anniversary edition has already sold out in the UK and Europe.

Prices for the Morgan range in Australia are now as follows:
3 Wheeler – $92,300 ($100,284 driveaway*)
4/4 – $89,990 ($97,849 driveaway*)
Plus 4 – $103,500 ($112,067 driveaway*)
Roadster – $139,775 ($150,224 driveaway*)
Plus 8 – $225,000 ($239,879 driveaway*)
