The next-generation 2025 Bentley Flying Spur has been teased and confirmed to receive the same advanced ‘Ultra Performance Hybrid’ V8 powertrain as the recently-launched Continental GT Speed.
That means Bentley’s fourth-generation Flying Spur sedan will be powered by an electrified twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 that produces combined outputs of 575kW of power and 1000Nm of torque.
Combined with a 25.9kWh battery pack, the Flying Spur will offer an all-electric range of 72km and a combined driving range of more than 800km – around the same as the previous-generation V6 plug-in hybrid Flying Spur it replaces.
Performance is expected to be ballistic for a large limousine that is expected to measure in at 5.4 metres long, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time likely to be around just 3.5 seconds.
As you can see from the teaser previewing its front-end, the Mk4 Flying Spur will shun the new Conti GT’s speared oval-shape headlights and retain the current model’s double-headlight design.
Other design elements include what looks like a larger and more upright honeycomb grille and reshaped side air intakes, plus a ‘Flying B’ bonnet emblem.
Despite packing supercar levels of performance, Bentley says the new Flying Spur will deliver “silent, effortless luxury”.
The electric motor within the transmission casing, meanwhile, is said to not only boost acceleration at low engine speeds but also in the mid-range to deliver strong overtaking performance on the open road.
Even though Bentley says it will major in refinement, “significant amount of development” is said to have been invested in the new Flying Spur’s exhaust note, which does without any artificial enhancement, to emphasise its cross-plane crank design – something normally favoured by American muscle cars – suggesting it will come with a deep engine note.
Bentley is yet to announce when it will fully reveal the new Flying Spur, but its world debut is likely to be imminent.
