New Civic to hatch in Frankfurt
Honda will launch its next-generation 'Euro-focussed' Civic hatch at September's Frankfurt Motor ShowThe all-new Civic hatch, which Honda says has been developed specifically with the European market in mind, will be launched at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September.
Offered exclusively in five-door hatchback body style, the new Civic is slated for European launch early in 2012. The model completes Honda's C-segment revival, joining the newly styled Civic sedan previewed at the New York Auto Show earlier this year.
Shown here in heavy cladding, the new Civic hatch is said to sport a roomier cabin and offer "bold" new looks. Honda says that although the car's styling was developed at the firm's Japanese R&D facility, the team was conscious to work closely with its European engineers to ensure performance, ride and handling suited local roads.
"Honda's engineers were conscious that European roads are some of the most varied in the world, mixing fast highways with poorly surfaced country lanes," says the Honda press blurb.
Full specifactions and technical details are yet to be released, these are expected to be made known closer to the car's launch. At this stage it is not known which version of the Civic is expected in Australian showrooms, or indeed if we'll see both variants. A hybrid model is also rumoured to be part of the lineup.
The 64th International Frankfurt Motor Show begins on September 13.
