New flagship for Jeep Cherokee
Top-shelf S-Limited mid-size SUV arrives at $53KJeep Australia has announced a revised 2020 Jeep Cherokee line-up and the updated mid-size SUV range joins the MY20 Grand Cherokee family in showrooms now.
Chief among the changes is the addition of a new top-spec S-Limited variant priced from $52,650 before on-road costs, usurping the Limited and Trailhawk models at the top of the Jeep Cherokee range.
The two-wheel drive four-cylinder Sport variant continues to open the all-auto line-up at $37,950 plus ORCs, but is now available on an order-only basis.
And the entry-level all-wheel drive V6-powered Longitude and Night Eagle versions have been dumped from the range, which shrinks from six to five variants.
Jeep says inspiration for the new S-Limited variant comes from the larger Grand Cherokee, and that the ‘S’ package brings almost $4000 worth of extra value over the Limited for just $2700 more.
Standard equipment includes a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, larger 19-inch alloy wheels in Granite Crystal with Jeep centre caps, black window surrounds and body-colour side mouldings.
It also gets a range of Granite Crystal finishings around the exterior, including on the roof rails and badging.
Inside, the Jeep Cherokee S-Limited gets black headlining and A-pillars, and leather-appointed seats with Tungsten accent stitching, which is also found on the door armrests and centre console.
The S-Limited carries over the same 200kW/315Nm 3.2-litre petrol V6, nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive powertrain seen in all variants except the entry-level 2WD Sport – which gets a smaller 130kW 2.4-litre four-cylinder.
Colour options for the 2020 Cherokee S-Limited include Bright White, Diamond Black, Granite Crystal and Velvet Red.
