New Isuzu MU-X here within months

Six months after the reveal of the 2021 Isuzu MU-X last October, Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) has confirmed the all-new seven-seat 4x4 off-road SUV will be available Down Under within a few months.

At the same time, it has launched a new web page via which Aussies can register their interest, and announced that the first 1500 registered purchasers will also receive a limited-edition Isuzu UTE-branded Casio G-Shock watch.

IUA is yet to announce Australian pricing or specs for the new Isuzu M-UX and nor has it confirmed a precise release date, saying only that the new model “is set to be revealed via an online public launch premiere in the coming months, prior to arriving at local dealers shortly after”.

“While it’s too early to reveal all the details, I’m proud to share that we’ve been working hard to ensure that our all-new Isuzu MU-X combines the latest technology and design with the proven formula of durability and reliability that Australian motorists have come to expect from Isuzu over the years,” said Isuzu UTE Australia managing director, Hiroyasu Sato.

As we’ve reported previously, the new M-UX is claimed to bring more technologies than ever seen before from Isuzu, in addition to those seen on the new Isuzu D-MAX, with which the new SUV shares its ladder frame and powertrain.

Once again adding a three-row wagon body and multi-link rear suspension to the D-MAX formula, the new Isuzu MU-X will come as standard with Isuzu’s latest Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS), a 9.0-inch touch-screen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and a rear differential lock.

Externally, its fresh front-end design is punctuated by a different front bumper and grille with trademark double horizontal bars, flanked by angled bi-LED headlights with LED daytime driving lights, while wheel sizes of up to 20-inch will be available.

Interestingly, however, IUA says that “with Australia charting as the largest global export market for Isuzu, the Australian-specification all-new Isuzu MU-X is expected to evolve from the new-generation MU-X first revealed in Thailand in late-2020”.
