New Lexus flagship goes one better

Lexus has laid on the technology and creature comforts for its new flagship LS460L – including a world-first eight-speed automatic – at the Detroit motor show.

The long-wheelbase version of the car was unveiled to the Detroit media scrum, but much of its fine detail was withheld until the official launch at next month’s Geneva motor show.

However, the detail announced in Detroit shows that with the fourth-generation LS460L Lexus is ready to sidestep Europe’s luxury car elite, especially in terms of specification and equipment. Or at least give its mostly-German rivals another serious shake.
