The wicked-up NISMO version of the 2021 Nissan Patrol has been spotted again in the Middle East.
Instagram user nissanarabia posted images of a fleet of showroom-ready Nissan Patrol NISMO SUVs at the weekend, each fitted with wheel protection and seemingly on their way to dealerships.
The images confirm the new Patrol NISMO adopts styling updates from the latest MY21 Nissan Patrol seen late last year, while retaining its own flourishes including big forged alloy wheels.
As well as the unique wheel and tyre combination, the Patrol NISMO is differentiated by the regular version with a front lip spoiler, bolder grille and sculpted front-end. There are also red styling embellishments to denote the NISMO fillip throughout.
Nissan is yet to confirm full specifications for the 2021 Nissan Patrol NISMO.
The high-performance version of the Japanese brand’s flagship SUV is not expected to come to Australia as the local operation instead favours the Nissan Patrol Warrior that will feature localised work by Victorian specialist Premcar.
Just like the incoming new 2021 Nissan Navara Warrior, the Patrol Warrior is designed to have better on- and off-road capability than the donor vehicle, will be clothed in bespoke accessories and retain its factory five-year warranty.
Unlike the NISMO Patrol, however, the Patrol Warrior is set to stick with an unchanged 298kW/560Nm 5.6-litre petrol V8.
The Nissan Patrol Warrior is set to hit Aussie showrooms in 2022 following setbacks caused by COVID-19 and subsequent stock shortages.
Aussie Patrol sales were up 44.5 per cent in Australia in 2020 compared to 2019. According to VFACTS, 2820 examples of the V8-powered 4x4 off-road wagon were registered last year. The trend has continued this year, with sales up 82.5 per cent to the end of February.
Nissan Australia has dropped pricing in recent years – to the point where Patrol pricing now starts at $78,910 plus on-road costs – with positive sales effects.
It has also benefited from COVID-related border closures, prompting more spending by Aussies keen to get out and tour the countryside.
