Nürburgring package for Lexus LFA

We told you it was coming, and now Lexus has issued the first high-res images and additional details of its hardcore LFA equipped with the so-called "Nürburgring package".

Aimed at "hardcore track driving enthusiasts", just 50 examples of the Nürburgring LFA (out of a total LFA production run of 500 cars) will be sold worldwide, virtually guaranteeing it collectable status.

The company is yet to announce pricing for the special edition, which is being launched in celebration of LFA's entry in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race

As previously reported, the mid-front-mounted 4.8-litre V10 has been mildly reworked to bump power from 413kW to 420kW, while gearshifts in the six-speed sequential transmission have been sharpened to just 0.15 seconds.

These mods are claimed to yield a 0-100km/h split of 3.7sec, while top speed of 325km/h is maintained in spite of the added drag created by the car's extra-downforce-generating aero package (comprising a larger front spoiler, side fin-type spoilers and a new fixed rear wing).

Lexus claims the aero tweaks "improve handling and downforce without compromising the exceptional speed and acceleration that are central to the LFA's driving character".

The handling is said to further benefit from sports tuning of the suspension and mesh-type wheels shod with dedicated high-grip tyres.

If they wish, customers can also sharpen their wheelwork by taking advantage of individual driving instruction on the hallowed Nordschleife circuit from the Nürburgring's chief instructors. Buyers also receive a one-year driving pass to the track.
