Maserati has brought along the whole family to the Paris Motor Show for 2016 to show off a raft of upgrades and updates made to its entire model range.
Every Maserati model from 2017 onwards will receive a new, redesigned dash to accommodate a brand new 8.4-inch, high-resolution touch-screen infotainment system that accommodates both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In the interest of safety and technology, Maserati now offers all vehicles the option of an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package. This includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Brake Assist and Automated Emergency Braking.
Maserati has also improved the "aero-acoustic" comfort of all sedan models, doing so by adopting new technologies that reduce cabin noise through improved sound insulation. In addition, to enhance the quality of passenger comfort Maserati has specified an Air Quality Sensor as standard across the sedan range.
According to the Italian manufacturer however, the big news is the refresh made to its flagship Quattroporte model. The Quattroporte is now available with two optional trim levels that, according to Maserati, represent the two pillars that are the manufacturer's credos, GranLusso and GranSport.
GranLusso, or luxury, focuses on what Maserati calls "the concept of luxury in a race-bred luxury saloon by enhancing the exterior finish and improving in-cabin comfort for driver and passengers."
The GranLusso gets things like an Ermenegildo Zegna interior, Radica wood dashboard and a leather steering wheel with wooden inserts.
GranSport, or sport, has trim that Maserati says "underscores the sporty character of the Quattroporte by enhancing the aggressive appearance of the car, with new exterior design cues and interior content which reflect the legendary racing heritage of the Maserati brand."
The GranSport option means the Quattroporte gets things like restyled centre and side intakes to improve cooling, red brake calipers and 21 inch Titano wheels.
Maserati has said that both the MY17 Ghibli and MY17 Quattroporte will arrive on our shores in the fourth quarter of 2016. Prices and full specification for the Australian market will be announced at that time.
