Ferrari will pull the covers of a topless version of the 458 Speciale at next week's Paris motor show.
The 458 Speciale A will be built to celebrate "the dazzling success of the various versions of the 458", says the Italian sportscar icon.
'A' stands for Aperta or Open. Ferrari will limit the production of the racetrack-ready A to "just" 499 cars.
The Speciale A features an aluminium retractable hard top which can be deployed or stowed electronically in 14 seconds. Ferrari claims the structure adds 50kg to the Speciale coupé's normal mass.
Engine and driveline are unchanged. Maranello says the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and achieves a Fiorano test track laptime lap time of 1'23"5. This is identical to the Ferrari 458 Speciale coupe.
Ferrari claims a series of "innovative and original bodywork solutions" makes the 458 Speciale A "the most aerodynamically efficient Ferrari spider ever".
