Porsche Design, the fashion and design house of the German sports car maker has collaborated with German sports fashionwear label Puma to create eight pairs of shoes inspired by the eight generations of the 911 Turbo.
Four of the pairs will be based on Puma’s Future Rider shoes while the other four will take inspiration from the motorsport-inspired Speedcat silhouette shoe.
Porsche and Puma are keeping the full reveal of the sneakers under wraps until pre-release with the website showing the eight pairs of shoes blurred out, only revealing the colour palettes. Not even pricing is available yet, but we expect them to cost a little more than your average runner.
The 911 Turbo inspired shoes will be available in eight distinct styles to reflect the eight iconic generations of the car. Inspiration has been taken from the popular period-specific paint colours, iconic rear wing, Lightbars, interiors, and body lines.
The shoes aren’t hitting the shelves in the traditional way either with the company announcing that it is holding the world's fastest sneaker pre-release online. So no camping outside the Puma store for several days required for these kicks.
When the website’s countdown clock hits zero, sneaker fans have the opportunity to purchase a pair of shoes but will have only 2.7 seconds to hit the ‘buy now’ button underneath the pair they want. According to Porsche, 2.7 seconds is the same amount of time it takes the 911 Turbo to go from 0 to 60 mph. Just like the 911 Turbo, you better be quick.
Once you've successfully beat the 2.7 second time limit and selected your sneakers during the pre-sale, you’ll be given a luxurious 15 minutes to complete your order.
The world's fastest sneaker pre-release starts on November 16th with the release of the shoes on November 17th 2020 on the Porsche Design website.
