Porsche passes 911 production milestone

Number 100,000 rolls off the 997 series production line at Zuffenhausen as Porsche keeps pace with demand

Well known for fast cars, Porsche is now establishing a reputation for faster production.

In just three years since release of the latest 911 (more here), Porsche's production line for the car has notched up six figures. The 997 series 911 was released in April 2004 and the 100,000th car was assembled recently (pictured).

During the forty four-year history of the car, never before has a 911 been produced in those numbers in such a short space of time. Porsche forecasts production of 36,000 911s for the 2006/07 financial year.
