Price and spec increase for mid-range Volkswagen T-Roc variants

MY24 Volkswagen T-Roc Style and R-Line regain tech and safety equipment, at a cost

The Volkswagen T-Roc was one of just a few VW models to escape a portfolio-wide price increase as of July 1, but a 2024 model year update for the compact SUV will now bring a series of spec upgrades as well as some price changes later this quarter.

Budget-conscious buyers will be relieved to read the changes only affect the mid-range Style and R-Line variants and that the entry-level CityLife grade is staying put at $35,990 plus on-roads.

Pricing for the new Style will start from $38,890 plus ORCs, marking an increase of $1790 compared to the current version, but it will add an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, satellite-navigation, voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.

Volkswagen Australia says most of these features were previously included in the now-deleted ‘Sound & Vision’ pack valued at $2050 alone, which therefore makes the Style even better value than before.

Other (existing) equipment highlights for the second-tier T-Roc include 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless charging, sport comfort front seats, dual-zone climate control, paddle shifters and adaptive cruise control.

It’s a similar story with the next-level-up T-Roc R-Line, which will soon start from $47,090 plus ORCs (+$1890) and score Nappa leather upholstery, heated front seats, power adjustable driver’s seat with

memory settings, side assist and rear traffic alert as standard – all of which were formerly contained in the axed $3950 Luxury Package.

Volkswagen Australia passenger vehicles director Michal Szaniecki said the T-Roc was booming in popularity Down Under and that the brand had heard the “wants and needs” of its customers.

“Given its popularity in Australia, we can now offer desirable items as standard on the T-Roc Style and T-Roc R-Line for a smaller premium than the previous optioned versions, making them even more appealing to the head and heart,” he said.

No changes have been made to either of the turbo-petrol engines powering the Style (110kW) and R-Line (140kW), or their accompanying running gear, nor have any tweaks been made to the spec or pricing of the flagship T-Roc R variants.

A VW spokesperson stipulated there would “be some crossover of new and revised T-Roc stock” when the updated vehicles arrive in September.

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen T-Roc cost?

Style – $38,890 (+$1790)
R-Line – $47,090 (+$1890)
