The 2025 MG4 will come with higher pricing from next month that will see the cheapest MG4 Excite 51 cost $37,990 drive away – $1000 more than it’s priced currently.
No explanation has been provided for the bump in price, but the Chinese-owned brand says there are no specification changes between the 2024-model-year MG4 and its 2025-model-year equivalent.
Late last year MG made headlines by dropping pricing for its entry EV to just $30,990 drive away for the MG4 Excite 51, before steadily increasing the cost to June’s drive-away price of $36,990.
The only variant to escape a rise as part of new 2025-model-year lineup is the 320kW MG4 XPower, which remains priced at $55,990 drive away.
Confirming the new pricing will apply from July 1, it’s not known if the remaining 2024-model-year stock will also be hit with the higher price tags too.
It’s been tipped that the 2025-model-year MG4 could be the last model-year update of the current EV hatch before a facelifted version arrives next year, which will introduce tweaks to the cabin and exterior.
In the first four months of 2025 around 1700 MG4s found homes – a drop of 6.2 per cent over the same period in 2024.
