SEMA: Toyota TRD Sport Trailer created for campers

Toyota has unveiled its new TRD Sport Trailer it has created for the SEMA modified car show that's based on the rear-half of the US-market Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck.

Built to be a mobile basecamp, the purpose-built camper trailer is said to allow explorers to set up camp far quicker than any conventional camping solutions.

Highlights of the Toyota set-up include a scissor lift, a four-person tent with an awning, fly fishing pole holders, a custom-built toilet, on-board fridge, hot water heater, shower, generator and a 60-litre freshwater tank.

There's even a neat slide-out sink and stove, plus a 55-litre grey water holding tank.

Designed to go wherever a Toyota Tacoma can, the rear camping trailer rides on 17-inch TRD off-road wheels, with grippy all-terrain tyres.

Toyota USA has not announced whether it plans to produce a run of the TRD Sport Trailer but the costs involved, in parts alone, suggests it's unlikely.

The Toyota GR Supra Sport Top concept bound for this year’s virtual SEMA360 show was also unveiled overnight – a one-off custom-built targa-roofed sports car based on last year's big-winged Heritage Edition.
