Seven-seat Subaru Exiga gets festive
Subaru offers Liberty Exiga people-mover with several equipment and after-sales incentives just in time for ChristmasSubaru has announced a limited edition of its Liberty Exiga people-mover fitted with a swag of free extra features and after-sales benefits.
Just 200 examples of the all-wheel drive seven-seat wagon are available now with the bonus features, and prices remain unchanged at $37,990 for the entry-level 2.5i and $42,490 for the 2.5i Premium.
Additional kit includes reverse parking sensors, a cargo tray and carpet floor mats, plus gift vouchers for Columbia gear, valued at $500 with Liberty Exiga 2.5i and $750 for 2.5i Premium models.
Subaru is clearly looking to shift a few more Exigas as the 200 units will also get improved after-sales service in the form of an extra year of warranty (for a total of four) and extended Roadside Assist, which now also lasts four years.
However, in what effectively makes it an MY12 run-out special, the limited-edition Exiga misses out on the upgraded engine, transmission, chassis, body and interior and exterior styling of the MY13 Liberty sedan and wagon line-up, which Subaru Australia released last week.
Subaru is yet to confirm details or availability of an MY13 Liberty Exiga, but compared to the superseded MY12 Liberty all MY13 sedans and wagons are now available with “a host of cosmetic, handling and efficient technology changes”.
They include an extra 4kW and 6Nm for total outputs of 127kW/235Nm from an upgraded FB series boxer four, which is also up to 4.8 per cent more efficient at 7.9L/100km (sedan) thanks in part to a “lighter, quieter and more compact” new-generation Lineartronic continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
As we’ve reported, all MY13 Libertys also get body, suspension, steering and all-wheel drivetrain updates, new grille, foglights and alloy wheel designs, four new paint colours and a freshened interior with smaller steering wheel, new dash, console and instrument colours, one-touch lane-change indicators, USB connectivity and a console-mounted electric park brake.
Subaru Australia says the Exiga deal, which follows the standard fitment of seven seats and other updates in July, is for a "strictly limited period".“Liberty Exiga is achieving a new level of interest since we added the seventh seat,” said managing director Nick Senior.
“It’s a great family wagon with the peace-of-mind of a five-star ANCAP occupant safety rating. The extra warranty and Roadside Assist makes this special offer even more compelling.”
