Sexy Peugeot 508 Coupe rendered
French brand has been crushing it on the styling front recently and how good would a two-door 508 be?The Peugeot 508 has long been a handsome if understated vehicle and the facelifted 2023 version takes that handsomeness to a whole new level, especially in five-door Sportwagon or flagship Peugeot Sport Engineered form.
But how much sexier would it look as a coupe?
Well, digital graphic designer X-Tomi Design has mocked up a new render giving us the answer, and that answer is a lot.
Removing the rear doors transforms the 508 from an elegant four-door fastback to a classy coupe that wouldn’t look out of place rubbing shoulders with an Audi A5 or BMW 4 Series, so we can only imagine how hot a PSE version would look…
The 508’s already sloping roofline lends itself well to a rear door delete, but the icing on the cake would have to be the rendered coupe’s enhanced rear haunches, which inject the package with a newfound sense of muscularity.
The basis for the render was a mid-range (globally) electrified sedan equipped with one of two plug-in hybrid powertrains good for between 134kW and 165kW.
Both systems utilise an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels which may not seem all that coupe-like given its aforementioned would-be rivals, but the power outputs are certainly on par with the lower ends of the respective portfolios.
A 268kW PSE coupe would certainly throw the cat among the pigeons given the fastest Pug model adds all-wheel drive to the equation.
The odds of a 508 coupe coming to fruition are next to none given the French mid-sizer is now into the second half of its lifecycle and the differing market intentions of Peugeot versus brands like Audi and BMW.
We don’t know yet when the updated 508 will be coming to Australia but those after something a little sharper and coupe-looking may be interested in the inbound Peugeot 408, which looks a bit like a Lamborghini Urus that’s been shrunk in the wash.
