Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor

Details of the new Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor have emerged in Europe and there's every chance it'll be coming to Australia.

Available for the combi variant - also known as a wagon - the Outdoor kit, essentially a cosmetic package for the Czech large car, consists of "robust" synthetic cladding for the rear bumper, door sills and extended wheel arches.

The additions give the Skoda Superb a more rugged, outdoorsy appearance, not unlike its adventurous sibling, the Octavia Scout.

Frontal styling has been massaged to include round foglights and larger air dams and the Outdoor package has been designed as an "all-rounder for town and country and is aimed primarily at demanding customers with an active life style".

While there are no mechanical changes to the Superb Combi Outdoor, the Superb is available as an AWD vehicle.

Skoda Australia spokesman Karl Gehling told motoring.com.au that the Outdoor model is being considered for Australian introduction.

Thus far in 2012, Skoda has sold 292 Superb large cars, which is an increase on the 212 sold this time last year.

The Outdoor package is offered on all models except the Greenline eco warrior version, but as Skoda has no plans to introduce the Greenline brand into Australia at this point, it's a moot point.

Mr Gehling told motoring.com.au that the company's ultra-green range of cars currently available in Europe, which cover almost every model in the line-up, are not on the radar for the Australian marketplace.

"At this stage, no. It's like the [Volkswagen] Bluemotion models - we haven't made any plans with Skoda at this stage to add Greenline models."
