Mercedes-AMG has announced a number of special-edition models based on its GT coupe and convertible and C-Class coupe and cabriolet, some of which will be sold in Australia.
Confirmed for our market, where the new open-top AMG GT C Roadster and facelifted GT C and GT S Coupe go on sale in the third quarter of this year, is the GT C Coupe Edition 50.
Limited to 500 units worldwide, the Edition 50 super-coupe is designed to celebrate five decades of AMG, which was founded in 1967, and comes with a bespoke equipment package.
It's available in designo graphite grey magno or designo cashmere white magno exterior paint with black chrome accents on the side skirts, front splitter, grille, side our outlets, rear diffuser, exhaust outlets and forged wheels.
Inside, there's contrasting black and silver trim, including STYLE Exclusive nappa leather in silver pearl/black with grey diamond-patterned contrasting top-stitching and a black AMG Performance steering wheel in DINAMICA microfibre with grey contrasting topstitching.
Of course, there's also 'Edition 50' lettering and a build plaque, plus silver seat belts, black chrome trim and the AMG Interior Night package including black steering wheel spokes, shift paddles and door sill panels.
There are no changes to the 410kW/680Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, which takes the GT C Coupe to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds.
The similarly-themed AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50 will not be available in Australia.
However, Mercedes-Benz Australia is considering the local release of both the C 63 S Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition and the C 43 4MATIC Coupe and C 43 4MATIC Cabriolet Night Edition.
Based on the recently-released C 63 S Cabriolet and also available in non-S form in Europe, the Ocean Blue Edition is limited to 150 units globally.
Its special styling package is based around an exclusive new deep ocean blue colour for the fabric acoustic soft-top, as well as the front/rear bumper trim strips, hub cap surrounds, contrast stitching for the crystal grey interior and the analogue clock.
Available paint colours are designo cashmere white magno and designo selenite grey magno, which are matched with the front bumper, wing mirrors, side sills and rear spoiler.
The C 63 Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition rides on 19/20-inch AMG forged wheels in titanium grey and features a crystal grey interior in nappa leather with diamond quilting and deep ocean blue contrasting stitching.
When it comes the Ocean Blue Edition's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, there are no changes to the 375kW/700Nm outputs from the standard C 63 S Cabriolet, or the 350kW/650Nm outputs from the C 63 Cabriolet.
Finally there are the C 43 4MATIC Coupe and Cabriolet Night Edition models, based on the 270kW/520Nm twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6-powered C 43 Coupe and Cabriolet.
Both models come with black highlights on the grille, front splitter and spoiler lip, rear bumper, side skirts, boot lid and exhaust outlets.
For the first time, the 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels are painted matt black and feature contrasting high-sheen rim flanges.
Inside, count on nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber trim for the Performance steering wheel with a black flat-bottom section, plus Night Edition' centre console badging.
"2016 was the most successful year so far in our company history," said Mercedes-AMG GmbH CEO Tobias Moers.
"We shall be using this momentum to fill even more customers with enthusiasm for Mercedes-AMG in our anniversary year, 2017.
"We shall be supported in this by our new Editions, which we are presenting at the Geneva motor show. So we can now offer our customers an even wider choice of individual performance models."
